Ripple, a cryptocurrency firm, has recently appointed Lauren Belive as its new head of U.S. Public Policy and Government. With an impressive background in public service, Lauren previously held positions at the White House’s Office of Legislative Affairs and served as the Policy Director for the United States House Committee on Rules.
Belive made an announcement on LinkedIn on Sept. 26, expressing her acceptance of the policy role at Ripple. She will be leading engagement efforts in Washington D.C. and across the nation. Before assuming this position, Belive gained valuable government experience while holding similar roles at Softbank Group, Zoom, and Lyft.
Belive stressed the significance of advocating for policies that not only strengthen the crypto industry but also extend their advantages to numerous individuals and businesses. She underscored the ever-evolving regulatory landscape as a crucial driver behind this necessity.
Crypto Advocacy Surges As Belive Partners With Ripple During SEC Battle
Belive was added to Ripple while the company sued the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission over the XRP cryptocurrency. Although the lawsuit is still pending, a judge determined in July that the token was mainly not a security, having repercussions across the cryptocurrency industry.
Members of significant U.S.-based cryptocurrency companies were ratcheting their lobbying efforts among lawmakers to address regulatory clarity in the industry. The ‘Stand with Crypto’ campaign from Coinbase implores customers to cast their ballots for state and federal candidates that support cryptocurrencies.
However, American legislators were in disagreement at the time of publishing on spending proposals meant to prevent a government shutdown after Sept. 30. If members of Congress are unable to reach an agreement by the end of the week, several cryptocurrency measures that are up for a floor vote in the House of Representatives may be postponed.
